Kyoudai + OGT vs. Broom Witches 2 ep. 3

Posted 29 July 2010

By the time you see this, dear reader, the three of us will be waiting in line to pick up our Otakon badges (albeit perhaps at different places in said line). Yay? And, hopefully, the presentation we’re meant to deliver on Friday should mostly be done by then. Hopefully.

Perhaps you’re in that line, too, even as you read this. In that case, I invite you to seek us out and bequeath your comments upon us in person.

Kyoudai + OGT vs. Strike Witches 2 ep. 2: Entrails

Posted 20 July 2010

Miyafuji/Perrine, amirite?

Which is to say, welcome to another installment of our most self-sacrificing of team features! This episode was kind of boring, I think. But fear not — such things have never stopped us before. And, anyway, if the next episode preview is to be believed, great things await us just ahead. We need only reach them.

Kyoudai + OGT vs. Strike Witches 2 ep. 1: Mad panty science

Posted 13 July 2010

And so it continues.

We heft the cross of Strike Witches — a cross so weighty with teenage undergarments that even Zac Bertschy hasn’t energy enough to lambaste it thoroughly — yet again. But this time, we’ll have the aid of the stalwart OGT, who, being a sound strategist, seeks refuge in numbers.

Below, you’ll find my comments indicated by the red ani (兄) kanji, Otouto’s by the blue oto (弟), and OGT’s by — what else? — the green kame-o (かめ王).

Pontifus (and Otouto-kun) vs. the industry and digital distribution

Posted 4 May 2010

The lesser of two evils is relegated to parenthesis today, as he mostly just agreed with me as I explained my ideal digital anime distribution service. And I don’t know if we could call it “ideal” in more practical terms, but I’d use it, anyway.

Pontifus and Otouto-kun vs. 2D love

Posted 2 May 2010

We’ll have to skip the Brocast again this week, as I’m presently applying my speed-research talents to the completion of my term papers. But of course we won’t allow you to spend this Sunday devoid of the comforts we provide.

Sometimes, while working on homework, I start talking to Otouto-kun. This is almost always A Bad Idea. But, occasionally, we end up having conversations which are…if not insightful, then at least entertaining. And this is, after all, what the Pontifus and Otouto-kun vs. series is about — isn’t it?

Below, my dialogue is indicated by the red ani (兄) kanji, and Otouto’s is indicated by the blue oto (弟). Yes, we’re experimenting with different ways of indicating who speaks when. We’ll see how this works out.

Pontifus and Otouto-kun vs. Strike Witches 12

Posted 23 March 2010

It all comes down to this. Until the second season, anyway, at which point we may tear off our pants and dive right back in to this endless source of guilt that is a franchise. I suppose we’ll spare you the details of that tearing off of pants thing. For now.

Pontifus and Otouto-kun vs. Strike Witches 11

Posted 21 March 2010

It appears as though the last two episodes will have posts of their own, as, even after cutting all most of the irrelevant and/or offensive rambling, the final two episodic transcriptions ended up among the longest. But that’s alright. Any excuse for more blog content is a good excuse. Right?

The comments this time are a mixed bag. Though perhaps this means they’re no different from those that have come before. At any rate, I’ll let you take the measure of them for yourself, and (conveniently for me, who has had to come up with introductions to eight posts now) spare you a long-winded preface.

Pontifus and Otouto-kun vs. Strike Witches 9-10

Posted 18 March 2010

Once more into the pantsless thing. Having burned ourselves out on episode eight, or something, we seem to have had less to say this time. And not much of that has any intellectual value at all. But, what the hell; this is Strike Witches. You’re not here to watch us position this show in a postmodern, postcolonial context (something the show more or less does to itself anyway). I’m guessing you’re here to watch us react to a fictional global culture whose women don’t wear pants. And react we shall. On with the reacting!

Pontifus and Otouto-kun vs. Strike Witches 8

Posted 12 March 2010

Somehow our pontifications on Strike Witches 8 flowed like wine in the streets, and, as such, that curious eighth installment, like the first, has earned a post of its own. If only we had a neat explanation for how and why that happened. But Strike Witches isn’t about neat explanations, is it?

Pontifus and Otouto-kun vs. Strike Witches 6-7

Posted 9 March 2010

The war against the Neuroi intensified. Underwear was stolen and returned. And my brother and I made a slight miscalculation in our viewing of the seventh episode that resulted in the violent end of our innocence.

We are no longer fit for marriage.
